Referring to the announcement at http://2013.blogfest.info , the theme of the conference about “Reinventing the Spirit of Cultural Heritage in Southeast Asia” is exactly interested me.
First of all, we’ve known that ASEAN Blogger festival is a conference for bloggers & social media from the ASEAN countries to come and meet. As a Cambodian blogger, I also expect to meet other ASEAN bloggers so that I could share ideas and take part of ASEAN blogger community. Only in the ASEAN blogger conference where bloggers could get together and talk informally in regards to regional issues. In Cambodia, the number of bloggers is few comparing to other ASEAN bloggers. Moreover, we are afraid to be punished after publishing our blog. As known, recently, one teacher was accused of defamation for a facebook’s post. Even he was not charged, it is still an example to threat other of not posting any picture, photo, document, video which affected the authority.
Secondly, this conference is a place where I can meet and share an innovative idea and experience to promote people-to-people contact. In order to contribution to the establishment of the ASEAN Community by 2015, all ASEAN blogger should create a network through social media tool such as facebook, twitter and so on from now on. In Cambodia, facebook is very well-known. It would be better to create ASEAN Blogger Community group or page so that all bloggers in ASEAN could share what is happening in their country especially some restrictions to the freedom of expression. Moreover, we all could share experience and create ASEAN Blogger Community statement in order to raise public awareness. Besides, each blogger plays an important role in their country. Supposed that the Blog Festival was organized every year, it would be better that all participants could take part in some social work activities such as cleaning up city, blood donation, tree planting etc. in the host country. It is one of the best memories of community engagement besides visiting heritage site, attending exhibition, and watching cultural performance and so on.
At last, I am interested in the theme of this conference which is about “Reinventing the Spirit of Cultural Heritage in Southeast Asia”. I want to know how technology can be a tool to reinvent our spirit of cultural heritage in cooperation with Aseanita. Even we stay in the same region; it doesn’t mean that we have the same spirit. Through Aseanita, I hope that I could take part to make this region better as said “One Community, One Destiny”.
In conclusion, the Blog Fest 2013 is a nice event for bloggers to join so that we all could know, meet, share, and build relationship for upcoming ASEAN Blogger Community by 2015.
Thank you for your reading.
